FS2004 Hibernia Offshore. Hibernia offshore oil platform is located in the Jeanne d'Arc Basin, 170nm, 315km east of St John's, Newfoundland, Canada in water 80m deep. The completed platform was towed to the Hibernia oil field and positioned on the ocean floor in June of 1997 and began producing oil on November 17, 1997. The platform stands 224 metres high, which is half the height of New York's Empire State Building 449 metres and 33 metres taller than the Calgary Tower 191 metres. |

At night, the 'pigs' kerosene torches, stored by the shed during the day, will be hand lit and laid alongside the runway next to the markers. This was one way used occasionally when someone wanted to do some night flying. Those were normally used to warn of road construction hazards. The name pig is due to the fact that they were very dirty and messy to handle. |
